From Greyhound Buses to Planes

From Greyhound Buses to Planes

When I was a young girl, I remember my family and I took multiple trips back and forth between San Diego, CA and Tucson, AZ. We never had much to begin with but we had to leave those items behind because we didn't have the capacity to carry them in small bags and boxes.

I didn't think too much of the Greyhound bus as a child because I didn't know any better. However, I took it one time as an undergrad college student and I will never do it again! It took extremely long for me to get to Cali from AZ, it wasn't comfortable, it smelled, and the stops along the way weren't pleasant.

Instead, if I ever take a bus again, I would recommend FlixBus, which I have taken twice! It was clean, fast, and comfortable! I have taken it to both L.A. and Las Vegas from Arizona.

BACK TO GREYHOUND... I have one big memory about one particular trip to AZ and it was when I was about 4 years old. This man was pushing his boxes on this lady in front of him because he thought she cut in line and I was playing Peak-A-Boo with my mom. Well, as soon as I jumped out, that man had shoved a big box into that lady and she fell on top of me and BROKE MY LEG! I remember my mom helping me up and I fell back down. She asked me to walk and I just couldn't! My mom gave me pain medicine that she bought at the station and we rode all the way to AZ, not knowing my leg was broke!

When we got to AZ, my mom took me to the hospital and we found out my leg was broken in a couple of places and I got a bright pink cast that went from my ankle all the way up to my thigh. I guess the good thing about this was that I got to be pushed around in a stroller a lot and I didn't have to walk much :)

Fast forward, my first flight that I remember was when I was headed to the National Keystone Conference for Boys & Girls Clubs of America! It was an amazing experience and my world opened up from there!

So many people never travel outside of their neighborhoods, cities, or states, let alone the country! Traveling is one of my favorite things to do and I recommend taking a trip if and when you can! You learn a lot, it opens up your mind, and it's very fun, depending on where you go! Some places I want to go are Thailand, Bali, Bora Bora, Africa, Paris, and London.

Love,

Mona Dixon
